Marriage in the Church

As soon as you have arranged your marriage date and time with the priest or deacon, please attend one of the following:

Pre-Cana
Then you are ready to contact the following: 
  • The Music Director to make selections and arrangements for music at your ceremony.
  • The Wedding Director to get you started with the particulars of your ceremony, reserve your rehearsal time, and answer any questions you may have.

To begin the wedding preparation process, please contact the parish office at (803) 329-2662 to speak to any of the priests or deacons. They will help you to reserve the Church for the date of your wedding and will inform you regarding the prenuptial process and other requirements. The priests or deacons also can be contacted about any and all questions you may have on the Church’s position related to an upcoming marriage. General Requirements

  • At least the Bride or the Groom must be an Active Parishioner – Registered, Serving, and Contributing – at Saint Anne Parish for at least one year prior to scheduling the wedding.
  • Couples must plan to attend a Marriage Preparation Program of their choice as early as possible.

Catholic Engaged Encounter

This is a highly effective Marriage Preparation Program designed to meet the needs of today’s engaged couples. It is an in-depth, private, personal, couple experience within the context of Catholic faith and values, but is not limited to Catholic couples. The weekend offers each couple the insights, the tools and the confidence to enrich their relationship and strengthen their love for one another. Pre-Cana Marriage Formation

This conference is for engaged couples planning to be married in the Church. A full day will enable you to discuss your strengths and weaknesses honestly with each other such as family living, communication, finances, Christian sexuality, the Sacrament of Matrimony and your role in the Church and society are among the topics covered. Banns of Marriage

The publication of Banns of Marriage was abolished in the 1983 code. We still publish Banns of Marriage in one form or another.
